Well my first chemotherapy treatment is tomorrow, April 12. They say we should expect to spend the whole day at the clinic (Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center). I say we because Mary will be going with me – she’s in this with me every step of the way, and I appreciate it very much!
Arrival time is 7:30am for blood tests, then I meet with Dr. Murphy, my oncologist, and hopefully by 9:15am (or so) I will be getting prepped for my treatment.
More on the treatment later. Today was a big cleanup day at our house, not inside, but outside. Of course, I was limited in how much help I could provide due to surgery last Thursday to implant the “IV port” that will be used to administer my treatment. Thanks to Mary and many of my family living here in Nashville for helping today. Joe, our son, and Tiffany, our daughter in law, helped plant flowers, pressure wash the patio, and generally cleanup around the pool and the patio. Mike Ott, my brother-in-law, installed a new removable shower head in our shower to make it easier for me. He also helped clean out the flower beds today and yesterday plus he scrubbed the 9-month accumulation of dirt and mildew from the three ceiling fans on the patio. Mary’s Mom fixed lunch and supervised our cleanup party. My Mom went to see Dad today, but she helped clean out the flower beds on Saturday.
Thanks to everyone for their help today. You are beautiful people and I love you.
